Statement Regarding Willowbrook Nursery (Updated)

Willowbrook Nursery will NOT be operating in the community centre after 11 February 2024.

The Trustees have signed a final emergency license for Willowbrook Nursery to operate in part of the Community Centre from 9 January to 11 February 2024. Building work will be ongoing in other areas of the centre during this period, including safety work to deal with asbestos found in the building. Asbestos risks have now been professionally dealt with in the areas that will be used by the nursery, but building work is ongoing and may cause some disruption. This five week emergency license to Willowbrook is exclusively intended to give parents a few weeks to make alternative arrangements for their children. It will not be renewed or extended.

You can read more information about the background to our decision in our updated statement here.

The letter linked below was sent by Trustees of the North Mymms Youth and Community Centre to Willowbrook Nursery on the 22 December 2023. In view of misinformation which we know is circulating, which may give parents false reassurance, we have decided to publish it.

We would urge parents with children at Willowbrook to read it in order to be clear about the situation in the new year. In summary, it offers the Management of Willowbrook Nursery the option of continuing to run a nursery in part of the North Mymms Youth and Community Centre, from 8 January 2024 to 11 February 2024. Asbestos safety work and other building work will be ongoing during this period in other parts of the building.

That license will categorically not be renewed under any circumstances and we will not continue to do any business with the current Management of Willowbrook Nursery after 11 February. This is not further negotiable. We are very sorry that Willowbrook Nursery has allowed this situation to occur.
